Fabulous Vintage 1940s-50s Inspired Designer Nancy Johnson Sexy Little Black Cocktail Dress - Sheer Embroidered Silk Insets/Back - Pockets

Oooh la la--tres chic! Another breathtaking, fabulous retro-inspired dress by the one and only Nancy Johnson, whose gorgeous vintage-inspired designs graced the pages of famed Victoria magazine in the 1980s (Victoria magazine, August 1988, pgs. 76-87)---her beautiful fabrics and very vintage style designs are strongly reminiscent of 1930's to 1950's style. This one looks just like something a Hollywood star like Ava or Rita would have worn in the 1940s or 50's, with a big black hat and black platform shoes! SO elegant and yet a little racy with the upper bodice and the entire back made of sheer, see-through embroidered silk organza; dolman bodice and sleeves with little cuffs, a fitted waist, slim skirt and even roomy front pockets. Buttons down the front. This is made of ramie (a natural fiber, linen type material) cotton and silk---all of the fabrics Nancy used in her creations were extremely high quality and have such a wonderful, truly vintage look. I love antique and vintage clothing and have collected it for years, as well as having a longtime design career including doing costume & restoration work for major movie studios and museums....I've translated that love to my own contemporary creations as well as now offering some choice pieces of my extremely large collection of vintage and antique beauties! I'm meticulous about clothing in general so I make quite sure that every piece of vintage clothing I sell is clean, fresh, pressed and in excellent wearable condition---I do not use any fragranced or heavily-chemical products in caring for/cleaning garments and they are carefully stored in climate-controlled closets at all times except for when I am photographing them for listings. This is a NON SMOKING environment and always has been--I do not sell anything that has any kind of odor, nor do I ship clothing stuffed into shipping bags; I use new USPS boxes ONLY and carefully fold/wrap everything in new tissue paper.

Measurements of this wonderful dress are as follows, marked a vintage 12 but please check measurements, this is slim fitting and has no stretch.
Bust: dress measures 38"; wearer should be at least 1-2 inches less than this in body measurement.
Waist measurement is 28"---should fit up to about 27".
Hip measurement is 38" MAX, fits up to 36-37"
Length is 50" from shoulder to hem. This fits very well on my size 6/8 mannequin with a little room to spare (36-26-36), and could possibly fit up to a modern 10, please check measurements!
Condition: Excellent unworn vintage, no stains, spots or rips/holes, I cannot find any issues but probably should be dry cleaned at some point as it's been hanging in a closet for decades.
